COMEDK PGET (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Post Graduate Entrance Test)


Exam Details:
COMEDK will conduct a separate entrance test for Medical and a separate entrance test for Dental Post Graduate courses called 'COMEDK PGET-2013', for candidates seeking admission to Post Graduate courses in Medical and Dental studies.
The entrance test is being conducted for use by COMEDK Member Institutions only. The COMEDK entrance test is mandatory for candidates seeking admissions for the Post Graduate courses in COMEDK Member Institutions subject to the eligibility as prescribed by MCI/DCI.
The COMEDK PGET-2013 test scores are valid only for admissions during the academic year 2013-2014.
The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed "Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka" (COMEDK).
COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a common entrance test for the academic year 2013-2014, for Indian national candidates aspiring to pursue Post Graduate Courses in Medicine and Dentistry in the state of Karnataka, in Member Institutions of the Consortium (Medical and Dental Colleges).
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counseling (Single window). The details will be published in due course on our website.
The list of the Member Institutions who have indicated their participation in the COMEDK testing program, along with the courses offered by them, is published as part of this brochure, on our website.
Applicants are advised to read this brochure thoroughly and familiarise themselves with the test procedures.

Eligibility Criteria:
Degree / Diploma Programs:
Applicants must meet all requirements stipulated by MCI / DCI. Accordingly, they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. from an institution recognized by MCI / DCI, and must have completed or completing their internship by 30/04/2013 at the latest.
MCI / DCI Norms:
Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate Medical / Dental course in any of the Medical / Dental institutions in the country, must possess recognized M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent registration with the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India, or any of the State Medical / Dental Council or should obtain the same with in one month from the date of admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.
In the case of an Indian national with the recognized degree from Foreign University, the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary/permanent registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institution to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies. Temporary/Permanent registration to such candidates shall be subject to the condition that the degree is duly registered in the country where the degree is obtained and is recognized by the corresponding Council or concerned authority in India also.
As per the Existing Post Graduate Regulation of Medical Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the Entrance Test (COMEDK PGET-2013) for eligibility and admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Merit candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (All India) and Other Backward Classes belonging to Karnataka State only.
As specified by the Dental Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the Entrance Test (COMEDK PGET-2013) for eligibility and admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Merit candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (All India) and Other Backward Classes belonging to Karnataka State only.
Note: Only Candidates who are due to complete the internship on or before 30/04/2013 are eligible.
Rank list / Rank Card will be prepared only for those candidates who become eligible for admission to Post Graduate Courses as per the regulations of Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India Regulations.
Candidates who have appeared for COMEDK PGET during the last three years and selected a clinical PG Degree Seat and got admitted to any of the COMEDK Member Institutions are NOT allowed to appear for COMEDK PGET-2013.

Exam Pattern :
The scope of the syllabi for the Post Graduate Medical / Dental entrance test is based on the M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. syllabus as prescribed by MCI / DCI respectively.
There will be one separate test for PG Medical and one separate test for PG Dental Courses. Each test will have 180 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ).
The time allotted for the test would be 180 minutes. The test will begin at 10:00 AM and end at 01:00 PM
Candidates are required to mark their answers in an OMR (Optical Mark Reader) Answer Sheet.
Each correct answer is awarded one mark.
There will be no negative marking.
However, in the event of a tie in score the principle of least negative responses (number of wrong answer) will be adopted. In addition, if required, other methods may be adapted to break ties vide 5.4.2.
No mark/s will be awarded for multiple marking (marking multiple responses) for any question.

Uploading of online test admission ticket in the COMEDK website : 15th January, 2013, Tuesday
Date of COMEDK PGET - 2013 : 03rd February, 2013, Sunday
Publishing of answer keys : 03rd February, 2013, Sunday
Last date for receiving objections pertaining to answer keys : 07th February, 2013, Thursday
Publishing of test score : 16th February, 2013, Saturday
Last date for receiving objections pertaining to test score : 19th February, 2013, Tuesday
Publishing of rank list : 27th February, 2013, Wednesday
Last date for dispatch of rank card : 08th March, 2013, Friday
Commencement of the academic year : 01st May, 2013

Exam Centers:
The COMEDK entrance test, COMEDK PGET-2013, will be held in Bangalore only. The test will be held on the mentioned time and date in all the test centers.
The details of the test centre allotted to the candidate will be available in the Online Test Admission Ticket.
The candidates are assigned a test centre which is system generated during the application processing itself, hence no requests for change in test centre would be considered.
